This standard is intended to standardize the technical language within the specified scope in order to ensure unambiguous use of technical terms in operation, training and science. The standard contains terms for gravure printing. It is irrelevant for the technical understanding that so-called photomechanical processes have now largely been replaced by digital processes and that the frequency of use of some terms has therefore changed. This standard has been prepared by DIN Standards Committee Printing and Graphic Technology (NDR), Working Committee NA 017-00-03 AA "Prozesssteuerung und zugehörige Messtechnik" ("Process control and related metrology").
