This standard specifies dimensions, general quality requirements and tests for polyethylene (PE) pipes - PE-HD - for pressureless applications. It is directed at manufacturers and users of PE-HD pipes. It is intended to provide the user with a basic standard which includes the dimensions, general quality requirements and the necessary tests for PE-HD pipes. The standard contains in particular quality aspects. The committees responsible for standard DIN 16842 are NA 054-05-01 AA "Außendurchmesser und Betriebsdrücke" ("Basic geometrical characteristics of thermoplastic pipes") and NA 054-05-02 AA "Prüfverfahren für Rohre" ("Test methods for plastic pipes") of DIN.
