Overview

This document has been prepared by NA 005-09-25 AA "Bemessungs- und Konstruktionsregeln für Bauprodukte aus Glas" ("Design and construction rules for glass building products") at DIN Standards Committee Building and Civil Engineering (NABau). This document applies to point fixed glazing. Point fixings are divided into disc fixings and countersunk fixings, which are inserted through holes drilled in the glass, and clamp fixings, which are positioned at the edge or corners of the glazing. This document is only applicable to glazing constructions in which all glass panes are held in place exclusively by mechanical fixings. This document is only applicable to infill glazing in accordance with DIN 18008-1:2020-05, 3.1.1. This document deals with the use of plate holders with cylindrical glass holes and countersunk head holders with partially conical glass holes that encompass the entire glass thickness. Additional requirements apply in accordance with DIN 18008-4 to DIN 18008-6 for glazing that protects against falls, for walk-on glazing or glazing that can be accessed for repair work. The provisions of DIN 18008-1 apply mutatis mutandis with regard to the distinction between horizontal and vertical glazing.
