This document is applicable for field tests for determination of density of soil based on the collection of soil samples and the determination of mass and volume. They are applicable for all types of soil in which stable test pits can be produced. However, in soft, cohesive soils and in loose, non-cohesive soils, the applicability of the method can be questionable. The Committee responsible for the standard is NA 005-05-03 AA "Baugrund; Laborversuche (SpA zu CEN/TC 341/WG 6)" ("Soil; laboratory tests (Mirror Committee to CEN/TC 341/WG 6)") at DIN.
