This standard applies in earthworks and foundations. This standard specifies a testing procedure to investigate the magnitude and the chronological sequence of soil compression when lateral deformations are limited and under gradual change in load and drainage exclusively in an axial direction. The standard serves for investigation of the swelling behaviour of soils under the stated framework conditions. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-05-03 AA "Baugrund; Laborversuche (SpA zu CEN/TC 341/WG 6)" ("Laboratory tests on soils (Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 341/WG 6)") at DIN.
