This document applies to pedestrian controlled rotary mowers- hereinafter referred to as mowers – that are combustion engine or electrically powered (mains or battery), have no device for carrying the user, and are intended for domestic use or similar purposes. It contains terms and specifies requirements for performance characteristics and their testing. The revision of DIN 1873-1 mainly involved a review of the determination of mowing performance for battery-powered mowers and the addition of a new paragraph in 4.1 on the conditioning of the battery of battery-powered mowers. A new Subclause 4.2 "Determination of lawn height" has also been added. In addition, it was specified that a comparable substitute weight (battery dummy) may be used instead of the battery in the endurance test for vibration resistance in battery-powered mowers. The responsible committee for this standard is NA 020-00-11-03 UA "Rasenmäher - Gebrauchstauglichkeit" ("Lawnmower performance criteria") at DIN.
This document replaces DIN 1873-1:2016-10 .
