This document defines terms, units, and symbols used in process engineering for blasting, which are primarily used in mining, the stone and earth industry, and the building industry. There are two terminology standards for explosives in Germany: the European Standard DIN EN 13857-1 and the national standard DIN 20163, the latter being a residual standard that supplements the European Standard DIN EN 13857-1 with missing terms. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-08-98 AA "Explosivstoffe für zivile Zwecke" ("Explosives for civil uses") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
This document replaces DIN 20163:1994-11 .
