Especially in underground coalmining with its difficult and often changing operating conditions, rail transport provides various advantages. The simple extensibility and flexibility of the installations, in addition to suitability for deployment at low load bearing capacity of the substrate are therefore also of importance. Flexible design of the rolling stock results in comparably minor restrictions of the material to be conveyed. The standard applies to rail fastenings in mining for 30E1 and 33E1 rails according to DIN EN 13674-4, installed on wooden sleepers. Rail fastenings shall connect the rails with the wooden sleeper so they cannot move and are positively positioned, ensure perpendicularity between rail and wooden sleeper, provide the possibility of re-tensioning perpendicular to the axis of the sleeper and enlarge the bearing surface of the rail foot. Depending on the type and extent of operation-related use, connections with one or several bolts can be used. For example, in particularly corrosion-prone route areas, connections using one bolt with hooked sole plates no longer ensure correct holding of the track to gauge in the long run. Horizontal forces of the operation cause movements in the outward direction and increased material removal. The resulting tolerance can only be reduced to a limited extent by retightening of the sleeper screws in order to prevent forced track extension. For such cases, rail fastenings having a ZSB shape indicated in this standard are less sensitive. The standard has been prepared by NA 008-05-01 AA "Grubenbahnen" ("Mine railways") at FABERG.
