This standard specifies the requirements for the provision of high quality conference interpreting services by individuals. Conference interpreters provide this service in a multilingual communication situation usually, but not exclusively, at conferences and events similar to conferences. Conference interpreters are specially trained for their work and have the highest level of interpreting competence in both simultaneous and consecutive interpreting modes. The aims of this standard are to create minimum requirements and market transparency in the field of interpreting, to inform and educate users of conference interpreting services and to ensure quality in the field of interpreting. This standard is primarily aimed at individuals providing conference interpreting services, but is also of interest to users of these services and all stakeholders involved in conference interpreting. This document has been prepared by NA 105-00-03 AA "Übersetzungs- und Dolmetschdienstleistungen" ("Translation and Interpreting services") at DIN Standards Committee Terminology (NAT).
