Overview

This standard shall be applied to remote handling tongs which are used in high radiation fields, mostly hot cells with shielding made of lead (see DIN 25407-3). This standard specifies the minimum requirements which are placed on remote handling tongs regarding their working areas, load capacity, structural features and surface treatment. The main dimensions and composition are specified in DIN 25409-1. Instructions for use see Supplement to DIN 25409.
