This document is applicable to rooms (hot cells) surrounded by a concrete shielding intended for use in the remote handling of radioactive materials. The standard is intended to provide guidance for the design of concrete hot cells to planners, manufacturers, users and administrative authorities. Design examples for remotely operated cells are dealt with in Supplement 1 to DIN 25420-1, shielding windows in E DIN 25420-3, installation guidelines for the windows in Supplement 1 to DIN 25420-3; design examples of performance are contained in Supplement 3 to DIN 25420-1, shielding windows in E DIN 25420-4.
