This standard specifies requirements for preventive fire protection for hot cells during the planning, installation and operation of hot cells. This document applies to the interior of hot cells with shielding made of concrete, see DIN 25420-1 and DIN 25420-2, or lead, see DIN 25407-3. For hot cells where part of the shielding is made of steel the same fire protection requirements apply as for those with a lead shielding. These can be hot cells for test purposes (with changing use) or with production character (with constant use). DIN 25425-3 applies to all surrounding rooms in the controlled area. DIN 25422 applies to fire protection during the storage of radioactive materials. DIN 25422 contains requirements which primarily serve to prevent the transmission of fires from other areas of the building where no radioactive materials are present. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-07-62 AA "Strahlenschutzeinrichtungen" ("Radiation protection") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
This document replaces DIN 25460:2000-03 .
