The edition of DIN 31634:2009-06 contained an error in the table including transcriptions. This error is corrected in the new edition. The standard specifies the practice common in the scientific tradition as it is reflected in the transcription of the Prussian instructions. This edition of the standard adapts and supplements rules for the alphabetical catalogization in scientific libraries (RAK-WB). Compliance with ISO 843:1997 "Information and documentation - Conversion of Greek characters into Latin characters" could not be achieved due to the different practical application in Germany. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 009-00-01 AA "Transliteration und Transkription" ("Transliteration and transcription") at NABD.
This document replaces DIN 31634:2009-06 .
