Overview

This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 159-02-01 AA "Tourismus-Dienstleistungen" ("Tourism Services") at DIN Standards Committee Services (NADL). Conference packages for events currently vary significantly across different hotels and event venues, thus making it difficult for customers to arrive at an objective comparison. A standardized model for conference packages provides for transparency and comparability by clearly defining the services included in such a package. This document specifies the minimum requirements and services for a conference package. It establishes principles with the aim of simplifying the quotation process for both providers and customers when it comes to conferences. This document applies to conference venues without regard to the number of attendees. The use of the term "conference package" does not constitute a "package tour" within the meaning of the European Package Travel Directive. A standard for conference packages throughout the industry is required in order to eliminate inconsistencies in the offers from different providers. Currently, offers vary considerably, both in terms of the scope of the services included and the cost structure. A standardized offer makes it possible to establish a clear framework and to compare different offers in an objective manner.
