This standard applies to protective caps for pipe fittings with welded or threaded ends. The protective caps are used in particular for shipping and storage to prevent foreign bodies from penetrating and to protect the thread and connection surfaces from damage. This standard does not apply to protective caps for pipeline parts with flange connection (see DIN EN 12351). This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 003-01-11 AA "Armaturen für die Prozessindustrie" ("Valves for the process industry") at Standards Committee Valves (NAA) at DIN.
