This document applies to: solenoid valves for use in household appliances; or, solenoid valves for providing drinking water to devices and equipment controlled by a building management system (BMS) for drinking water installations, when used in conjunction with household appliances; or, solenoid valves for use as shut-off devices that are independently installed (controlled by a BMS for drinking water systems) in a drinking water system in accordance with DIN EN 806/DIN 1988 between the service valve and a tap. This document applies to valves with a nominal diameter up to DN 50 at a nominal pressure of PN 10 for cold water and/or hot water systems with a limit temperature of 65 °C, as well as at 90 °C for a duration of at least 1 hour, according to the manufacturer's specifications. This document specifies requirements with regard to the design, function, and electrical safety of solenoid valves and describes relevant test procedures. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 003-02-02 AA "Armaturen für die Trinkwasserinstallation in Gebäuden" ("Valves for potable water supply in buildings") at DIN Standards Committee Valves (NAA).
