DIN 38402-45:2024-09

This document specifies the criteria for conducting interlaboratory tests for the proficiency testing of laboratories in water, wastewater, and sludge testing. This document therefore differs in its intended purpose from ISO/TS 7013 and DIN ISO 5725-2, which are used to obtain quantitative statements about the reliability of analytical methods. This document specifies in particular the requirements for the performance of proficiency testing of laboratories in water, wastewater, and sludge analysis, insofar as they exceed the requirements of DIN EN ISO/IEC 17043. The requirements of DIN ISO 13528 with regard to the statistics to be used are specified for the scope of this document. This document may be applied if the parameters to be determined in the interlaboratory test can be considered at least approximately continuously quantifiable. This is usually the case for chemical, physical, and physical-chemical parameters, among others. Compared to DIN 38402-45:2014-05, the references to other documents and normative references have been updated, errors in the equations in Annex C (C.5) and Annex D (D.9); (D.11) have been corrected, and the calculation results when using laboratory equipment values in Annex E have been supplemented. This document has been prepared by Working Group NA 119-01-03-06-04 AK "Ringversuche zur Eignungsprüfung" ("Proficiency test") of Working Committee NA 119-01-03 AA "Wasseruntersuchung" ("Water examination") at DIN Standards Committee Water Practice (NAW) and contains the German standard method for water, wastewater, and sludge testing jointly prepared by DIN Standards Committee Water Practice (NAW) and the German Chemical Society (GDCh Division) Society of Water Chemistry Section: Interlaboratory tests for the assessment of laboratory competence (A 45).
