DIN 3966-1:2026-03

This document specifies the information required for manufacturing cylindrical gears with involute gearings and for the conformity assessment of the tooth flanks of individual cylindrical gears. This document makes reference to the applicable rules of the Geometrical Product Specification (GPS). As a rule this document applies to German-language drawings, but it may also be applied to drawings in other languages. The standard differs from DIN 3966-1:1978-08 as follows: a) the structure has been adapted to DIN 8202; b) the dimensions to be specified in drawings and gear tables have been revised; c) the illustrative examples in the gear tables have been revised and moved to Annex A; d) Figures 1 through 3 have been revised and moved to Annex B; e) the normative references have been revised. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 060-34-15 AA "Zahnrad-Tragfähigkeitsberechnung (SpA ISO/TC 60/SC 2/WG 6, WG 11 und WG 15)" ("Gear calculations") of Section "Antriebstechnik" ("Gear") at DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM). Representatives of manufacturers and users of cylindrical gear teeth as well as representatives from universities participated in the preparation.
