The permissible deviations specified in this standard apply to single and multi-start hobs for the manufacture of worm gears. Hobs with modules up to 40 mm are covered. National interests in the preparation of the standard were represented by Committee NA 060-34-14 AA "Worm gears" in Technical Section "Gear" at DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM). Representatives of the manufacturers and users of worm gears as well as the employers' liability insurance associations were involved in the preparation.
