This standard specifies characteristics for contact probes, extensions and components for the construction of assemblies (measuring head systems, probe systems), which are used in 3D measuring devices or machine tools in connection with corresponding holders. This standard also specifies pre-assembled measuring head systems and probe systems consisting of measuring head, holder, extensions and probes (or their receptacles and any necessary extensions or reducers). This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 121-07-01 AA "Merkmallisten und 3D-Modelle für Werkzeuge, Werkzeughalter, Spannmittel und Werkzeugmaschinen" ("Tabular layouts of properties and 3D models for tools, adaptive items, clamping devices and machine tools") at DIN Standards Committee Tools and Clamping Devices (FWS).
