Overview

This standard specifies the properties of slotted capstan screws for threads from M2 to M10. Capstan screws can be used both as pure fastening screws and as set screws. Their main area of application is in electrical engineering. They can also be installed using a pin where a screwdriver cannot be used for space reasons. The cross holes are also often used as drill holes, for example for sealing wires. Working Committee NA 067-00-08 AA "Verbindungselemente mit Sonderformen und aus Kunststoff" ("Fasteners with special elements and made of plastic") at DIN Standards Committee Fasteners (FMV) is responsible for this document.
