The widths of flats in accordance with this standard apply to all 2-flats, squares, hexagons and octagons, even if they are not moved by wrenches. DIN 79 applies to squares and square holes for spindles, handwheels and crank handles, and DIN 10-1 applies to squares for tools. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 067-00-01 AA "Referenznormen und Qualitätsmanagement" ("Reference standards and quality management") at DIN Standards Committee Fasteners (FMV).
