This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-08-15 AA "Grundlagen der analytischen Atomspektroskopie" ("Basic principles of analytical atomic spectroscopy") at Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP) at DIN. This standard specifies terms for analytical methods, where the detection of elements and their assay is carried out by measuring the emission, absorption or fluorescence of optical radiation. This basic standard aims to establish particular specifications for the various areas of optical atomic spectral analysis: unify Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES), Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) and Atomic Fluorescence Spectrometry (AFS) and, as far as possible, achieve compliance with X-ray spectral analysis and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).
This document replaces DIN 51009:2001-12 .
