This standard specifies a rapid test method for practice-oriented determination of thermomechanical properties of vitreous and porcelain enamels. The method is applicable for vitreous enamels used in wet or dry condition as conventional covering enamel, direct or single-coat enamel, together with any type of mill addition, and for ready-for-coating base enamel. The coating is carried out on the bonded system steel/enamel, but the results are transferable to other base metals, such as cast iron, aluminium or special metals. The rapid test method is therefore suitable both for quality control and new and further development of enamel frits and complete stowing enamels. It is also analogously applicable for testing ceramic glazes, enamels for glass and metal spray coatings. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-01-63 AA "Prüfungen von Emails und Emaillierungen" ("Testing of vitreous and porcelain enamels") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
