Overview

This standard specifies requirements for splitting hammers serving for splitting wood using the edge and for driving aluminium and plastic wedges into wood using the face. In addition to the dimensions for hammer head, eye and handle length of splitting hammers information on material, design, handle fixing and hardness as well as on the marking of these striking tools are given. Significant modifications with regard to the valid standard are the exclusion of splitting axes from the scope and the incorporation of a definition of the term for splitting hammers. This German standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 121-05-12 AA "Schlagwerkzeuge" ("Impact tools") at the FWS.
