Overview

This document has been prepared by Working Committees NA 062-06-11 AA "Atomspektrometrie" ("Atomic spectrometry") and NA 062-06-63 AA "Gebrauchtöluntersuchung" ("Analysis of used oils") of Technical Committee Petroleum, Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products Standardization Committee (FAM) at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP). The precision data have been determined by statistical evaluation of the results of interlaboratory tests carried out at FAM. This document specifies a test method for the determination of the elements listed in unused and used mineral oils which may originate from the additive content, from abrasion or from impurities. These are in particular the elements: barium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, sodium, potassium, lithium, iron, silicon, sulphur, manganese, molybdenum, copper, phosphorus, boron, aluminum, tin, lead, nickel, titanium, vanadium, chromium, tungsten and zirconium.
