Overview

This standard specifies a sample digestion method for elemental determinations by ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AAS or RFA. This method is applicable to unused mineral oil products, waste oils, water-miscible cooling lubricants and their emulsions, crude oils, oils from the food industry, oil sludge, lubricating greases, tar, pitch and for other highly viscous, oil-like compounds containing ash-forming elements in the concentration range from about 0,1 mg/kg. This document has been prepared by NA 062-06-11 AA "Atomspektrometrie" ("Atomic spectrometry") of the Petroleum, Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products Standardization Committee (FAM) at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
