This standard specifies a sample digestion method for elemental determinations by ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AAS or RFA. This method is applicable to unused mineral oil products, waste oils, water-miscible cooling lubricants and their emulsions, crude oils, oils from the food industry, oil sludge, lubricating greases, tar, pitch and for other highly viscous, oil-like compounds containing ash-forming elements in the concentration range from about 0,1 mg/kg.
