This document specifies the abbreviated designation for lubricating oils that are primarily used in industrial applications. Classification of the individual lubricant groups and the basic structure of the abbreviated designation for industrial lubricating oils consisting of up to three designation blocks (A, B, C) are specified in DIN 51502-1. This document specifies the labeling of packaging, containers, lubricant reservoirs, lubrication equipment, lubrication points, and the information provided in product data sheets. General international labeling of lubricants is specified in DIN ISO 6743-99. The specific international labeling for lubricating oils used primarily in industrial applications is specified in ISO 6743-1, ISO 6743-2, ISO 6743-3, ISO 6743-5, ISO 6743-6, ISO 6743-11, and ISO 6743-13. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-06-51 AA "Anforderungen an Schmieröle und sonstige Öle" ("Requirements for lubricating oils and other oils") of Fachausschuss Mineralöl- und Brennstoffnormung (FAM) "(Technical Committee Petroleum, Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products (FAM)") of DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
