This document specifies the temperature resistance test for turbine oils. This document is applicable to lubricants with or without additives to improve the load-carrying capacity on gear surfaces and describes a qualitative method for determining the temperature resistance behaviour of lubricating and regulating fluids for steam and gas turbine oils in which base oils of API groups I to IV, that is mineral oils and semi-synthetic and fully synthetic lubricants based on PAO (poly-alpha-olefin) are used. This document is not applicable to fully synthetic products based on esters or glycols. Tests suggest that this test method is also applicable to other product groups (hydraulic oils, gear oils, compressor oils). These oils have not yet been specified in this document. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-06-61 AA "Prüfung von Schmierölen, sonstigen Ölen und Paraffinen" ("Testing of lubricating oils, other oils and Paraffin") at Technical Committee "Mineralöl- und Brennstoffnormung (FAM)" ("Standardization of mineral oils and combustible materials") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
