The standard applies for the determination of total carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen content in hard coals, brown coals and lignites as well as coke by application of instrumental methods. The specifications can also be applied to other solid or liquid substances. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 008-12-02 AA "Prüfung fester Brennstoffe" ("Testing Solid Fuels") at the Mining Standards Committee (FABERG).
