This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-06-61 AA "Tribologische Prüfung von Schmierstoffen" ("Tribological testing of lubricants") at Technical Committee "Mineralöl- und Brennstoffnormung (FAM)" ("Standardization of mineral oils and combustible materials") of DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP). This document specifies a method for testing lubricating oils with additives P in accordance with DIN 51502, also called EP lubricating oils internationally, for translatory oscillating relative movements. This is achieved by comparative testing of the influences of lubricating oils on the wear rate and friction coefficients of the tribological system ball-on-disc in the translatory oscillation apparatus.
