This document specifies the sampling of coolants from internal combustion engines with recirculation cooling in vehicles, power units, engine test benches, rail vehicles and engines. Sampling determines the usability of the analysis results and their significance. As far as possible, a homogeneous sample should be taken, for example, from an engine that has only just been switched off. This document specifies the method for taking a representative sample to assess the condition of the coolant and, if applicable, the engine cooling circuit. This document has been prepared by Working Group NA 062-06-63-01 AK "Kühlmittel für Verbrennungsmotoren - Prüfmethoden" ("Combustion engine coolants - analytical methods") of Working Committee NA 062-06-63 AA "Gebrauchtöluntersuchung" ("Analysis of used oils" at Technical Committee "Mineralöl- und Brennstoffnormung (FAM)" ("Standardization of mineral oils and combustible materials") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
