This document specifies a method for determining the tensile strength of test specimens made of carbon and graphite materials (solids) at room temperature. The tensile strength is determined on dumbbell-shaped or cylindrical test specimens. The test specimen is placed in the clamping device of the tensile testing machine and then loaded until fracture. The tensile strength is calculated from the maximum force and the test cross-section. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-02-81 AA "Prüfverfahren für Kohlenstoff und Graphit" ("Testing of carbonaceous materials") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
This document replaces DIN 51914:2020-12 .
