This standard specifies a method for determining the ash value of pitches, tars and other liquid or fusible organic materials used as binders and impregnators for carbon materials. The method is not applicable to materials with ash values below 0,02% by mass. The committee responsible for this standard is Working Committee NA 062-02-81 AA "Prüfverfahren für Kohlenstoff und Graphit" ("Testing of carbonaceous materials") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
