This document specifies how active thermography test methods are to be used when there is relative motion between the test system and the test object. The test is used to detect irregularities such as delamination, cavities, cracks, faulty bonding, and the like. The type of defects that can be detected depends on the type of thermal excitation. The corresponding test method without relative motion serves as a decision-making aid for their selection. The same applies to any safety instructions and to the evaluation of the test. In the case of laser excitation, there are additional test techniques with and without relative motion that are covered in DIN EN 17501. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-11-16 AA "Thermografische Prüfung" ("Thermographic testing") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
