Taking into account the technical language and the language used in practice, this standard specifies uniform terms and definitions in the field of packaging and promotes their application. Terms and definitions of the packaging test, its results and assessments as well as terms and definitions relating to printing methods are not subject of this standard. The relevant terms and definitions can be taken from the respective standards. This standard comprises packaging materials, packagings and packages up to 3 m³ - tanks, pressure equipment, pressure vessels - as well as packaging systems up to unit loading devices are excluded, unless they are transport means bound. Substances and materials for the manufacture of packaging materials and packaging aids as well as relevant means for the generation and securing of packages and packaging items are included. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 115-01-01 AA "Terminologie" ("Terminology") at the DIN Standards Committee Packaging (NAVp).
