This standard specifies three methods, peel adhesion, peel strength and tensile shear strength, for evaluating the adhesive bond, the fracture type, the fracture location and the fracture structure of elastic adhesives on coatings. The methods are used, for example, to test the bond when bonding windows or add-on parts, for example plastic covers, spoilers, dashboard trim, headlights, with coatings in automotive engineering. Two methods are described for climatic exposure of the specimens, condensation water testing and cataplasm storage. This standard does not specify requirements for adhesives and coatings. The responsible committee for this standard is NA 002-00-07-09 AK "Automobilbeschichtungen" ("Automotive coatings") of NA 002-00-09 AA at DIN.
