The standard series DIN 58141 specifies measurement methods for fibre optic elements.
This standard is applicable for measurement of fiber optic components and products for image and data transmission (distances up to 100 m) as well as for transmission of light and optical radiation in the near infrared and ultraviolet spectral range. It is not applicable for fiber optic components and products intended for telecommunication and data transmission over distances > 100 m. The purpose of this standard is to fix a standardised procedure to determine the spectral transmission degree of light guides with end surfaces perpendicular to the axis of the light guide. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 027-01-16 AA "Faseroptik" ("Fibre optics") at NAFuO.
