This standard is applicable for diamond impregnated grinding tools used in optical engineering for bevelling and, as a result, for production of facets that are not particularly tolerated - preferably on optical lenses and similar optical components. These tools for facets can be used both on machines and as hand tools. The purpose of the specifications in this document is to create uniform dimensions in order to reduce the existing variety of these tools, to allow their exchangeability in optics processing machinery and to create uniform conditions as hand tools. The committee responsible for this standardization project is NA 027-01-11 AA "Fertigungsmittel der Optik" ("Production in optical engineering") at DIN.
