Overview

This standard specifies a method for testing polishing agents, preferably on the basis of oxides of rare-earth metals used for processing optical surfaces. The document serves the general understanding and testing of relevant physical and colloidal properties of the polishing powder and the polishing suspension. The standardization of this test serves process control during polishing. The committee responsible for this standardization project is NA 027-01-11 AA "Fertigungsmittel der Optik" ("Production in optical engineering") at DIN.
