Overview

This standard specifies tightening tests for determining the coefficient of friction in the thread of bolt/nut assemblies under specified conditions. This standard has been prepared by the interested experts of Technical Section "Mechanics", NA 131-03-01 AA "Verbindungselemente der Luft- und Raumfahrt" ("Aerospace fasteners") of the Aerospace Standards Committee (NL). DIN EN ISO 16047 applies for general industry applications. There are the following differences to DIN EN ISO 16047:2005-01: a) For self-locking nuts evaluation is possible on the basis of the coefficient of friction in the thread. b) A test method ensuring reproducible values is specified. c) Graphical and computer-aided recording is ensured. d) The technique for measuring the coefficient of friction is defined.
