This standard applies to the planning and construction of archives and libraries. It includes requirements for the new construction of archives and libraries as well as for the conversion of existing buildings or rooms. Specifications are made for archives, public libraries and academic libraries of different sizes and with different tasks. This standard is limited to requirements for the usable space of archives and libraries. Specifications for the size and equipment of technical areas and circulation areas are not part of this standard. Specifications for the exterior of buildings are also not included in the scope of this standard.
