Overview

The standard defines terms for the therapeutic application of ionizing radiation using irradiation facilities or sealed radiation sources in medical radiology. The standard contains basic terms of radiation therapy. The definition of special terms is reserved for the technical standards. Terms contained in the standards DIN 6814-2 "Radiation physics" and DIN 6814-3 "Dosimetry" have no longer been included in this edition of the standard. Coordinate systems are dealt with comprehensively in the standard DIN EN 61217. For this reason terms describing coordinate systems are no longer included in this standard. Terms that are no longer used in standards due to technical development have no longer been included in this standard. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 080-00-05 AA "Strahlentherapie" ("Radiotherapy") at DIN Standards Committee Radiology (NAR).
