Overview

This standard specifies the technical delivery conditions for timber handles for impact tools, for example hammers, sledge hammers, axes, hatchets. Compared to DIN 68340:1989-01, the connection with standards for shape and dimensions in the scope of application has been clarified and the structure has been adapted to the current design rules. Certification requirements for the determination of properties by certain institutions were deleted and the abbreviations of the wood species according to DIN EN 13556 were adopted. The determination of annual ring width and slope of grain is carried out according to DIN EN 1310 and the determination of moisture content according to DIN EN 13183-1. Bibliographic references have been added.
