This document is applicable to furniture shelves (hereafter referred to as shelves) and furniture shelf supports/bearers (hereafter referred to as shelf supports) in furniture as a common load-bearing system. It is not applicable to storage shelving for commercial use. DIN EN 16337 is applicable to the testing of shelf supports as furniture fittings. This document contains requirements for the deflection of shelves and the strength of shelf supports, including the elements that hold the shelf supports, and it specifies test methods. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 042-05-02 AA "Kastenmöbel, Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 207/WG 1/WG 5/WG 9 und ISO/TC 136/WG 3" ("Storage furniture, mirror committee CEN/TC 207/WG 1/WG 5/WG 9 and ISO/TC 136/WG 3") at DIN Standards Committee Timber and Furniture (NHM).
