Overview

This document specifies design and calculation principles for keyed connections whose parts are made of metallic materials. The geometry of the keyed connection is specified in DIN 6885-1, DIN 6885-2, and DIN 6885-3 with the exception of the key length. This document applies primarily to keyed connections used in mechanical engineering in the temperature range of -40 °C to 150 °C. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 060-34-32 AA "Wellen und Welle-Nabe-Verbindungen" ("Shafts and shaft to collar connections") at DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM). Representatives of manufacturers and users of shafts and shaft-hub connections, as well as representatives from universities were involved in preparation of the standard.
