This document represents a detail specification that specifies the machine-side connection dimensions for receiving hollow shanks for the machine/tool interface, which are intended for use in automatic or manual tool changes on machine tools (for example, lathes, drilling machines, milling machines, and turning/milling machining centers). The interface can be used for both single-piece production and series production with larger quantities on manually or automatically controlled machine tools. In this design, torque is transmitted exclusively by force via the taper. The standardization ensures interchangeability between different manufacturers while maintaining consistent quality. The project has been carried out in Working Committee NA 122-59-01 AA "Maschinenseitige Schnittstelle für Werkzeugaufnahmen" ("Machine tool interface for tool receivers") as well as NA 121-02-05 AA "Werkzeugaufnahmen und Schnittstelle Maschine/Werkzeuge" ("Tool holders and machine/tool interface").
