DIN 69893-5:2024-05

Part 5 of the standard series DIN 69893 has been prepared by Standards Committee Tools and Clamping Devices (FWS), NA 121-02-05 AA "Werkzeugaufnahmen und Schnittstelle Maschine/Werkzeuge" ("Tool holders and machine/tool interface") and is based on the results of the research project "Untersuchung der Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten für die Schnittstelle Maschine/Werkzeug" ("Examination of the design possibilities for the interface between machine and tool") of the Laboratorium für Werkzeugmaschinen und Betriebslehre der Rheinisch-Westfälischen Technischen Hochschule Aachen (Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering of the Rhenish-Westphalian Technical University Aachen) and on the elaborations of the Spindelarbeitskreis (Spindle Working Group) at the Institut für Produktionstechnik und Spanende Werkzeugmaschinen (Institute for Production Engineering and Metal Cutting Machine Tools) of the Technical University Darmstadt. DIN 69893-5 specifies the dimensions for hollow taper shanks (HSK) with flat contact surface, type E, which are used on high speed main spindles of machine tools (for example, drilling, milling and grinding machines). The torque is frictionally transferred. Type E is automatically changeable by means of a gripping groove and contains the connection dimensions for a coolant pipe in accordance with DIN 69895.
