This standard specifies requirements for tapping screw connections with screw thread as specified in DIN EN ISO 1478. It covers the connection of tapping screws with metals of a strength as given in this standard, and not with plastic components. For use of tapping screws to connect austenitic chromium nickel steel, see 6.3. The usage of type R tapping screws according to DIN EN ISO 1478 (with a rounded end) shall be preferred. Working Committee NA 067-00-05 AA "Kleinschrauben und gewindeformende Schrauben" ("Small screws and thread forming screws") at DIN Standards Committee Fasteners (FMV) is responsible for this document.
