Overview

DIN 81705 specifies the structural designs of detachable railings used on seagoing ships. The design details, dimensions and materials for these railings are determined and assembly instructions are given. These railings are used everywhere on ships as fall protection devices where it is necessary for operational reasons to remove the railings repeatedly for a limited period of time and where fixed railings would lead to operational disruptions (for example, on tweendecks in cargo holds) or to hazards (for example, at helicopter landing pads). This standard does not apply to detachable railings on passenger ships.
